Is business at risk of becoming out of tune with wider society?
The inaugural Hotwire Frontier Tech Confidence Tracker explores the results from a study into people’s experience with, and positivity towards, 15 different frontier technologies across five European markets.
Our findings reveal that trust in these frontier technologies is at risk, and we argue that organizations need to confront this reality head on. Organizations face a challenge which goes beyond merely solving an awareness problem. There is a need to redouble efforts to communicate the relevance of emerging technologies to the public too.
Key findings:
- 29-point optimism gap – Business leaders score tech confidence at 77/100, while the public scores just 48/100
- 79% vs 46% – Most business leaders think the public is positive about tech adoption, but less than half the public actually is
- 13-point trust gap on societal impact – The public is significantly less optimistic than business leaders about tech’s effect on society
- 36% vs 67% – Only a third of the public trust companies using frontier tech without transparency, compared to two-thirds of business leaders
- 43% of the public trust scientists most for reliable tech info — making them the most trusted source across both groups
